Choose Where to Stay in Puerto Morelos
Where you stay will have a big impact on how your vacation feels.
Beachside Puerto Morelos is ideal if you want to walk to the beach, restaurants, cafés and the town square.
La Colonia, on the other side of Highway 307, offers a more residential side of Puerto Morelos with local restaurants, shops and everyday services.
There are also large beachfront resorts along the surrounding coastline. These can be perfect if you want an all-inclusive experience, but many aren't within walking distance of central Puerto Morelos.
Families and groups may prefer condos, vacation rentals or villas that provide kitchens and shared living spaces.
Before booking, look at the exact location rather than assuming everything labelled Puerto Morelos is close to the town square.

Decide How Much You Actually Want to Plan
You don't need to schedule every hour of a Puerto Morelos vacation.

Head inland from Puerto Morelos and the landscape changes quickly.
The Ruta de los Cenotes runs through the jungle west of town and gives you access to freshwater cenotes, caves and a variety of outdoor experiences.
Some places are focused primarily on swimming and enjoying the cenote itself. Others combine cenotes with adventure activities.

Local colectivos connect the beachside area with La Colonia and Highway 307, while highway colectivos can take you toward Cancun, Playa del Carmen and other destinations along the Riviera Maya.
